Hess Haven is a 501c3 domesticated animal rescue in Citrus County, we specialize in neonatal, prenatal and postpartum care. We take in around 30 pregnant and or nursing mothers a year as well as around 70 litters without mothers this is not including singletons or kittens old enough to not be given formula. At this time Hess Haven has no volunteers or fosters and is ran completely by its 23yr old founder and her family when they're in state.
Our founder Jordyn has been rescuing animals for at least 8 years, but at 19 she started doing so consistently/full time and has stuck with it for 5.5 years. She worked along side a wildlife rescue for 4 years caring for neonatal wildlife as well as kittens and was working as a pet nanny at the same time. Due to this she was quickly recognized as someone who could be contacted for all neonatal kittens so was quickly slammed and it was in her and the wildlife rescues best interest for Hess Haven to be created in January 2024. As of April 2025 she is still the sole caregiver to the hundreds of animals that come in a year.
Our ambassador Pita came to us from another rescue on May 17th 2024 claiming he was healthy but unfortunately he was severely malnourished weighing just 11oz at 6weeks old, he also was covered in urine scald and infested in fleas and parasites and due to this it took months to get him ready to be adopted. Due to many failed adoption attempts we took Pita to an rescue event on 2/1/25 and everyone absolutely loved him and suggested we keep him as our mascot due to his sweet demeanor. We took some time but ultimately ended up agreeing and couldn't imagine our lives any other way, he brings such joy to everyone he meets including orphaned kittens.
Fostering an animal is a great way to provide temporary care for an animal in need. It also helps us free up space in our facility for more animals which in turn helps more lives be saved!
Hess Haven works closely with organizations across Florida to help as many animals as possible and provide the best possible outcome and treatments for the animals in our care. Our partnerships include veterinary clinics and or Staff, and other non-profit rescues both wildlife and domestic.
We want to take the opportunity to officially provide volunteer opportunities to our amazing supporters. You’ve all watched me since January 2024 rescue and rehabilitate hundreds of kittens completely on my own seeing me completely exhausted but never saying no to an animal in need. You’ve all begged to come help with small tasks, well that time is officially here as the shed will finally be completely converted into a facility by 5/1/25! We will now be allowing a few individuals to come on the property to help clean, feed and socialize! We will have applications available very soon!
At Hess Haven Inc, we are very proud of our high adoption success rates with over 400 kittens and mother cats being adopted and spayed/neutered in 2024!
The rescue facility is officially on the way to being open!
